Thing #3

I would use my blog in my future classroom to interact with all of my students. I would be able to post upcoming events, tests. homework, or free tutoring. The students would be able to comment and add their thoughts and I would be able to know how everyone feels about the class. If any student felt lost or confused, the blog could be another way to reach me so I would be able to help them before they fell too behind. Also using the blog would help them get more involved with the Internet and help them further their knowledge about technology. Blogging is a great way to explore your ideas and the ideas of others.

  1. Great post I did not think about free tutoring that is a wonderful idea for helping a student that is having trouble. I agree blogging is a great way to communicate with others it is a great tool to keep up to date on the latest happens within your classroom.

  2. I agree with Whitley and Marcie, that having the students interact with blogging in the classroom is a great idea. It is a great way for the students to keep up with their assignments. Having a blog in the classroom will let the students communicate with the teacher about certain issues they have. In this way, the students' grades might increase because of the extra help.

  3. I teach middle school math. I would worry about the comments that my students would leave. Which would make me worry that if something inappropriate were posted if I would be on there soon enough to catch it and erase it before somebody else caught it. I know it seems silly to worry about such things, but I'm still amazed at what I've seen in the short time that I've been teaching.

  4. I have to agree with "Fish" and his/her response. I think its a great idea to institute a way for your students to further there technology skills, but think that a blog could and would be a little misguided. Maybe some sort of school approved site that allows teacher-student curriculum based interaction would be the best bet. I would make sure the parents knew the intent and insure that the site was properly monitored.

  5. I didn't think about students leaving inappropriate comments until now. I plan to teach the lower grades in Elementary School though, so my blog would be used mainly for parent/teacher communication. But, I could definitely see that being a problem in middle or high school!
